Must Haves: Postpartum recovery

There are some common things that majority of postpartum people experience regardless of whether their birth is vaginal or via the sunroof (aka C-Section)

  • Adult diapers to manage lochia (aka postpartum bleeding)

    • Either adult diapers like Depends or a stash of hospital sized mesh underwear and pads will make this experience easier

    • Dermoplast or similar-type of soothing spray for the perineal area that contains witch hazel.

  • Multiple baskets of snacks

    • Babies don’t know their days or nights and you’ll be doing a lot of caring and soothing throughout the day. It’s always a good idea to have easily-unwrapped, one-handed snacks that you can grab to munch at any point of the day

  • Multiple water tumbles

    • Same reason at as above. You’ll never know how long you might be nap-trapped in one spot

  • Noise-cancelling or reducing headphones

    • Some babies cry a lot, and even the ones that don’t cry excessively can sometimes trigger sleep deprived parents. The first few months are truly about survival and sometimes that means being able to tune-out the trigger.

  • A yoga/birthing/exercise ball

    • Majority of new babies love the sensation of being bounced as it mimics the movement they experience in-utero. Don’t bother spending hundreds on baby bouncers at the beginning, just use one of these balls that retail for around $50 instead. It is great for your core and you can easily zone out while doing the motions if you have a podcast or show playing.
